Tales of the Ketty Jay

Hi!

Ive recently finished reading Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding and must admit I have found the story and the setting quite brilliant, not to mention a bit inspiring!

Retribution Falls

Black Lung Captain

Iron Jackal

Set in a fantasy world which relies on aircraft and populated by rogues, villains and sky pirates, its a rollicking read and has some really interesting ideas that could make for a nice game of Aeronef too and revolves around the disreputable crew of the Ketty Jay and their adventures amid a world of intrigue and piracy!

Theres lots of skirmishes both on land and in the air and some really good ideas, including a Golem called Bess...

I shall have to see what I can come up with but I am tempted to have a bash at sculpting up a few fighters and a larger airship or two. I think it might even be a game that I can play without spending any money too as I already own Aeronef and the Captains Handbook along with lots of suitable scratch building materials!

All the best!

Pondering What To Do!

Hi!

I've been thinking about what I want to do with my skirmish gaming in 28mm scale. I know I've already mentioned that they will be painted just for the fun of it but on reflection I must admit that having some sort of setting for it would give me some inspiration to do something a bit more original.

I've decided to base the action in a cross between FASAs Crucible, Conquest of the Final Realm and the new world from Warhammer as of 3rd edition as seen with the Magnificent Sven scenario.

The two games have rather similar backgrounds based on the exploration and conquering of a strange new world and I think it leaves me with some interesting options for skirmishes and warbands of treasure hunters, conquistadors and the local inhabitants.

I'm not sure when I will get chance to do anything with it but it's giving me some ideas!

Painting Stuff

Hi!

Many moons ago I painted up a whole load of fantasy stuff and then foolishly sold it off but recently came across some of the long forgotten photos:

Ral Partha Manticore

Ral Partha Jabberwock

Reaper Undead

Ral Partha Skeletal Huntsman

The purpose of this blog is to get back to what I used to enjoy most about my hobby; painting miniatures. Its been ages since I've managed to get anything to that standard and I want to try and get back up to scratch again so am going to be cracking on with some bits and pieces that I've had kicking around for ages now in an attempt to get some practice in.

Hopefully before too long I will be able to post a picture or two here!

All the best!

No School Like Old School!

Hi!

I've had a bit of a spring clean of my blog and have done away with all my previous tat. After some headscarf hong over the last few days and posting over on my Leviathan blog I have decided that I need some more structure with my projects.

While my Leviathan blog will continue to feature my 15mm scale malarkey I will be using this blog to cover larger scale stuff, namely 28mm fantasy and science fiction!

I've been through my lead mountain (admittedly its more like a molehill these days) and have found a few bits and pieces that I want to paint up. These will probably never be gamed with but simply painted for the fun of it.

Over the last few years I must admit I've found myself drifting from project to project without being able to settle on any one for more than a few weeks or months at a time. As a belated new years resolution I've decided to try and guide my hobby a bit more. Having started out collecting miniatures back in the early 90s and always being a fan of the old Rogue Trader and Fantasy Battle but lacking the budget to put together the required forces I'm going to just have a bash at painting up some of the miniatures of the era instead.

My budget is non existent so I will be relying on the stuff I currently have and the occasional bargain bin find but I do hope to have a bit of fun doing it!

All the best!
